Scary

That is what everyone finds linked data to be.

For everyone who is living under a rock, a lot of people are upset over Facebook making changes. I can understand why, since for a lot of people (myself included) it’s one of the most important sources of information, so it needs to be reliable. If the telephone book changed formats all the time back in the day, that would also have been an issue.

The funny thing is that what seems to upset people the most is the idea that their interests and activities were not only linked to other people with those same interests, but actually turned into linked data. So, you actually automatically followed any of your interests or activities that had Facebook pages and got information that should be of interest to you automatically generated.

Maybe it’s just me, but I found that really helpful. Yes, you have to clean up your metadata, but welcome to the world of information. I wonder if people are so freaked out by this because it’s new, or because it genuinely unsettles them? This makes me think that my future forays into linked data might not be seen as the cool service I’m imagining it would be.

Guess I’ll just have to be more transparent than Facebook in explaining the benefits to the users and how privacy will be protected.

Artichoke Cheese Dip Recipe

Thanks to popular demand, I will attempt to recreate my artichoke cheese dip recipe that made its first appearance last week.

6-8oz. cream cheese

1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup yogurt

1 cup grated mozarella

1/4 cup grated parmesan

14 oz. can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped

2-3 slices asiago

paprika

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Whip together cream cheese, mayo, and yogurt. Mix in grated cheese and artichokes.

3. Place in large casserole–make sure it’s not too deep so that it will cook through. Top with asiago and paprika.

4. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Serve with anything you like.

Cloudy

Spring weather is here, but I’m still not sure where I packed my umbrella. It’ll show up eventually. I would just like to say that professional movers are a great investment. I was cursing my book-loving habits while packing my books, even though I’d already pared down my collection several times over the past few years. I try to hold on only to things are extremely unique, such as my Cornish textbook. Now that strong men have carried them to my new apartment, I am back to loving books. And maybe one of these days I finally will learn Cornish!

I’ve been chalking up the life stress inventory events over the past few weeks here, so pardon me if I do things like forget to update my credit card information with my registrar so my domain name goes away for a day. All is well again, as you see.
